Job Opening: Summer Program Director and Assistant Director

The Autism Resource Centre, a community based, non-profit organization in Regina, has 4 temporary full-time positions open for the role of Summer Program Director (2) and Assistant Director (2) in their 7-11 and 12+ camps.

ARC’s Summer Camp maintains a 1:1 ratio of staff to campers all times throughout the day. Many of the individuals attending our camp require a high level of support. Directors should be confident in using a variety of strategies to maintain the safety of all staff and campers when behaviours of distress present.

The applicant should have knowledge of Autism as well as experience in the area. The individual will be required to work alongside other directors to plan all aspects of the summer camp including the training of staff. They may also be asked to assist with hiring. Strong planning and organizational skills are required; you will meet with parents, teachers, and clinicians of each individual attending to create individualized program plans as well as setting up, cleaning and maintaining the rented facility and equipment. The applicant must be adaptable & be able to keep up with high-energy campers and a busy schedule of events.

A high level of professionalism must be maintained as you will be required to oversee a staff of up to 25; this includes running staff meetings, providing feedback, managing requests for time off, etc. while following all policies and procedures in place to ensure camper safety is maintained.

Those hired as a SP Assistant Director will earn $22/hr and a SP Director earns $23/hr.

Qualifications

  • Working towards a degree, or similar experience, in human services field including but not limited to: Social Work, Psychology, Education, Kinesiology or Nursing
  • Applicants must have excellent communication, planning and organizational skills
  • Confidence using a variety of strategies to maintain the safety of all staff and campers when behaviours of distress arise
  • Knowledge of Autism and experience in the field

Terms

  1. Requires a consistent 40 hr/week commitment from May 3- Aug 31. Hours include evenings and weekends from May 4- 7 th . Flexibility will be required throughout your term.
  2. A vehicle, proof of third-party liability insurance, and submission of a driver’s abstract is required.
  3. A Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search is required and needs to be submitted before start date of employment. First Aid and CPR C Certification is recommended.
